The initiative of establishing the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance (WBA) was proposed at the First International Women’s Congress of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the BRICS member states on July 4, 2017. In the framework of the Russian BRICS Chairmanship, the Inaugural Meeting of the BRICS WBA took place on July 20, 2020.

NOVOSIBIRSK The idea of creating women’s business alliance was proposed by business community at the First International SCO and BRICS Women’s Forum in the summit of 2017

SEPTEMBER 2017, SHANGHAI

SHANGHAI Russian initiative to create a Women’s Business Alliance was supported at the BRICS Business Council meeting with endorsement by the Russian president Vladmir Putin in his article ahead of the Summit

2018

JULY 2018

The initiative to create the Alliance was included in the 10th BRICS Summit  Johannesburg Declaration

SEPTEMBER 2018

Presentation and subsequent support for the creation of the Alliance at the Second  Eurasian Women’s Forum

2019

NOVEMBER 2019

In the BRICS Summit Brasilia Declaration, the leaders welcomed the establishment of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance

2020

JULY 20, 2020 – ONLINE FORMAT

The first meeting of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance Bilateral virtual series with the leaders of the national chapters of the Alliance.

Actively cooperate in order to increase the participation of women in the economic processes of the five countries. Ensuring the expansion of women’s business networks in and among the five BRICS countries.
